About Faye Berton, M.A.
Story
I have been teaching yoga and working with Feldenkrais since 1988. I have the highest certification from Yoga Alliance and am a FGNA certified Feldenkrais practitioner
A year after starting to teach yoga a severe shoulder injury left me unable to use my right arm. Two years later using my arm was still limited and painful. Regaining its full function came through studying The Feldenkrais Method. From that point on The Feldenrkrais Method became integral to my work with yoga and vice versa. Yoga and Feldenkrais are for me inextricably interwoven.
Journey
Seven years after founding the Laurel Yoga Studio in St. Paul, Minnesota, I moved to Mexico and opened Casa Lalita Retreat Center. For 13 years I taught between Mexico, USA and Canada. After 23 years of teaching traditional asana, I developed the Fluid Strength Yoga Practice. I now live in St. Paul, where I teach The Fluid Strength Yoga Practice, do private sessions in The Feldenkrais Method and develop health and wellness workshops.
Training
My studies in yoga philosophy were through The Himalayan Tradition as taught by Swami Nijananda Bharati and Swami Veda Bharati. My training in asana is extensive and varied. Some of the world masters of somatic disciplines with whom I have trained include Marjorie Barstow, Emile Conrad, Charlotte Selver, Else Middendorf and Ruthy Alon.
